Summary : The 5th matchday of the CONCACAF qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup continued with Haiti's 1-0 victory over Costa Rica was secured thanks to a collective performance.

The Grenadiers displayed courage, discipline, and character, quickly showing the "Ticos" that they wouldn't dominate the game as they had in the first leg.

Frantzdy Pierrot opened the scoring for Haiti in the 44th minute, finishing off a team move down the left flank with a close-range shot. Ruben Providence provided the assist.

Goalkeeper Johny Placide delivered a remarkable performance until the final whistle, allowing Haiti to maintain their lead and secure the victory by keeping a clean sheet despite repeated shots on goal from Costa Rica (11', 45+2', 50', 86', 90+2, 90+2).

Thanks to this win, Haiti takes second place in Group C with 8 points and a record of 2 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss. The Grenadiers will host Nicaragua on Tuesday, November 18 (the date of the Battle of Vertières), with the opportunity to qualify directly for the final tournament. This date will hold even greater significance and value for us Haitians.

To secure their direct qualification for the 2026 World Cup, our Grenadiers must defeat Nicaragua on November 18 while hoping for a loss or a draw for Honduras against Costa Rica.
